Hi I'm on the Scrap FX blog today and I have a project to share with you to show how chipboard can be used for home décor pieces. I used a large pasta sauce jar and decorated it as a present for my Mum. She loves dragonflies and she is coming to babysit for us while my husband and I go away on holiday next week so I thought this would make a nice thank you gift.
To make this I started by painting the jar with a mix of gel medium and purple spray. This gave it a pretty purple transparent glossy finish. I used a piece of Fab Scraps paper Peaceful 2 which I ripped two large strips and glued around the middle of the jar, and a circle on the lid. For my chipboard pieces I primed them with gesso before colouring them with gelatos. For the large Futterbly Dragonfly I put some Ranger Stickles over the wings and pearls down the middle. With the mini dragonflies I mixed micro beads with gel medium and put this on their wings and then I used liquid pearls down the centre.
Here are my close ups
